What is meant when critics accuse the united states of maintaining an informal empire? how exactly has the united states asserted its influence informally?

History 03/01/2020 03:45 PM answersmine

When critics accuse the United States of maintaining an informal empire they are referring to the political, economic, military and cultural influence the United States exert on the world today, assuming that this country imposes its power in an imperialist way.

The US confirms its imperialist influence when it participates in the political, economic and civil issues of other countries, often taking the most important decision on these matters.

When raphael was in the elevator he couldn't help but notice a man and a woman in conversation. he decided that the woman in the suit was probably a college administrator and the gray-haired man in the glasses was probably a professor. raphael was engaged in a process called:?

The process is called "social categorization".

Social categorization alludes to the way a man's mind bunches together people who share critical qualities. A man rationally bunches individuals based on their statistic highlights (e.g., sex, age, ethnicity, or religion), identity and interests (e.g., extraverts, geeks), and occupation, to name probably the most widely recognized sorts of social classifications.

1) The line is passing through the y-axis at -3.
     Now to find the slope, use  \frac{x2 - x1}{y2 - y1} . We'll use the points ⇒ (-2, 0), (0, -3).
      \frac{-3 - 0}{0 - (-2)}  \frac{-3}{2}
     The slope of the line is \frac{-3}{2} .

      Plug in what we know into y = mx + b.
      m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

      y = -3/2x - 3 is the slope-intercept form for #1.

2) The line is passing through the y-axis at -1.
     Use the same slope formula,  \frac{x2 - x1}{y2 - y1} . We'll use the points ⇒ (1, 0), (0, -1).
      \frac{-1 - 0}{0 - 1}  \frac{-1}{-1}
     The slope of the line is 1.

     Plug the numbers in to y = mx + b.

     y = x - 1 is the slope-intercept form for #2.

Which condition, other than bph, would you expect to cause a rise in the level of prostate specific antigen (psa)? which condition, other than bph, would you expect to cause a rise in the level of prostate specific antigen (psa)? erectile dysfunction prostatitis urethritis epididymitis?

Biology 03/01/2020 03:44 PM answersmine

The right option is Prostatitis.

Prostatitis is a mild condition that is characterized by a rise in the level of prostate specific antigen (PSA).  Prostatitis causes the swelling and inflammation of the prostate gland (a walnut-sized gland situated directly below the bladder in men). The prostate gland produces fluid (semen) that nourishes and transports sperm. Prostatitis affects men of all ages but tends to be more common in men of 50 years or younger.

When attractive people are being rated by someone who does not know what they look like (e.g., over the phone), they are rated as being __________________ than unattractive people?

Social studies 03/01/2020 03:44 PM answersmine

The answer is they are rated that beautiful is good. We seem to use the basic stereotype that what is beautiful is good; we accept that attractive people have desirable traits that complement their desirable appearances and we seem to make these judgments automatically, without any conscious thought; a beautiful face triggers an optimistic assessment the moment we see it.

(05.06 LC) A company dyes two sizes of rugs. A small rug requires 2 hours for dyeing and a medium-size rug requires 3 hours for dyeing. The dyers need to make at least 15 rugs, and they must do it in less than 60 hours. Let x equal small rugs and y equal medium rugs. Which of the following inequalities can be paired with x + y ≥ 15 to create a system that represents this situation? (5 points) 2x + 3y < 60 3x + 2y < 60 2x + 3y > 60 3x + 2y > 60

Mathematics 03/01/2020 03:44 PM answersmine
If we are to make x small rugs, each of which takes 2 hours to dye, then the total time taken to dye the small rugs is 2x. Similarly for the y large rugs which each take 3 hours to dye, the total time for dyeing the large rugs is 3y. Therefore the total for all sizes of rugs is 2x + 3y. Finally, we have a maximum of 60 available hours for the dyeing, so the total time cannot exceed 60, and the final inequality is
2x + 3y < 60

Determine whether the origin is included in the shaded region and whether the shaded region is above or below the line for the graph of the following inequality: y > one half x + 2 (5 points) The origin is not included in the shaded region and the shaded area is above the line. The origin is not included in the shaded region and the shaded area is below the line. The origin is included in the shaded region and the shaded area is above the line. The origin is included in the shaded region and the shaded area is below the line.

Mathematics 03/01/2020 03:44 PM answersmine
The line y = (1/2)x + 2 has a slope of 1/2 and a y-intercept of 2. Since the actual inequality is that y > (1/2)x + 2, then the shaded portion that satisfies this inequality will be above the line. Its y-intercept at (0, 2) means that the origin is below this line, so the origin is NOT included in the shaded region, and the shaded region is above the line. (This is the 1st choice).

Explain the connection between containment of communism and the interstate highway act.

History 03/01/2020 03:44 PM answersmine
With the rise of a Nuclear Soviet State, the United States was auditing it's own internal defense capabilities.

One critical point was the size of the United States and the time it could take to move forces from one point to another in times of war and emergency.

Even within the United States, there was a rise in communist parties which were slowly becoming a threat.

The Interstate highway act not only produced economic benefits to stop the rise of communism in the United States, but also provided nation-wide infrastructure to smoothly and quickly move forces across the country.

(05.03 LC) Determine the solution to f(x) = g(x) using the following system of equations: (5 points) f(x) = 5.5x − 13 g(x) = −5x + 18.5 x = 1 x = 2 x = 3 x = 4

Mathematics 03/01/2020 03:44 PM answersmine

Answer:

The solution to f(x)=g(x) is:

                             x=3

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given to functions f(x) and g(x) by:

            f(x)=5.5x-13

and   g(x)=-5x+18.5

Now, we are asked to determine the solution of:

           f(x)=g(x)

i.e. we are asked to find the possible values of x where the two functions are equal.

i.e.

5.5x-13=-5x+18.5

Now , on adding both side of the equality by 5x and 13 we get:

5.5x+5x=18.5+13\\\\i.e.\\\\10.5x=31.5\\\\\\i.e.\\\\\\x=\dfrac{31.5}{10.5}\\\\i.e.\\\\x=3

Cystic fibrosis is a deadly disease of the lungs and digestive system. It is inherited as a recessive trait. How can two healthy parents have a child with cystic fibrosis?

Which of the following statements best describes the graph of x + y = 2? (5 points) It is a line which intersects the x-axis at (2, 2). It is a line which intersects the y-axis at (2, 2). It is a line joining the points whose x- and y-coordinates add up to 2. It is a line joining the points whose x- and y-coordinates add up to 4.

Mathematics 03/01/2020 03:44 PM answersmine
This line has an x-intercept at y = 0, x = 2. (First statement is false.)
Its y-intercept is at x = 0, y = 2. (Second statement is false.)
The third statement is true, as adding the x- and y-coordinates should sum up to 2, as in the equation "x + y = 2".
The fourth statement is false, since this description would fit the equation x + y = 4.

Therefore the third statement is the correct one.

The growth of China’s economy has caused pollution problems. Explain why the government continues to use coal-fired power plants despite the pollution problems they cause?

History 03/01/2020 03:44 PM answersmine
Many nations use natural gas as a coal alternative.  China’s is low on producible natural gas resources.  This is a dilemma to producing new energy plants.  China claims it is currently constructing 4 approved coal-to-natural gas plants.  Yet new projects will not be approved until the end of this decade.   China finds these new projects challenging.  The factories consume a large amount of water.  Plus there are emissions into the environment as a by-product.
