Use precise language to show your understanding of your topic. Use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Write in the third person point of view. needs^^

Jellyfish are awesome animals. Jellyfish are free-swimming aquatic animals. They have a gelatinous umbrella-shaped bell and trailing tentacles. Just because jellyfish are called fish they are not fish. A group of jellyfish are called a "bloom", "swarm", or "smack".

Jellyfish use their tentacles to sting. Most are harmless to humans but stings from some species can kill people. An example is a box jellyfish. A species of box jellyfish can produce extremely potent venom. They are also cnidarian invertebrates. They are distinguished by their cube-shaped medusae.

There are many species of jellyfish. Here are some from the Gulf of Mexico. A Moon Jellyfish, having a 4 petal shaped like reproductive organs being able to see through their bell. The Atlantic Sea Nettle can consume large prey such as minnows and small crustaceans. A Canon Ball jellyfish, having tiny warts located on its bell packed with stinging tentacles. Pink Maine, got its name from the recently added family of jellyfish. Finally, The Comb Jelly, have simple bodies and are classified as Ctenophores because they lack specialized stinging cells.

Read this excerpt from “Ain’t I a Woman?” by Sojourner Truth. In which sentences does she make an emotional appeal to the audience by talking about her personal hardships? Well, children, where there is so much racket there must be something out of kilter. I think that 'twixt the negroes of the South and the women at the North, all talking about rights, the white men will be in a fix pretty soon. But what's all this here talking about? That man over there says that women need to be helped into carriages, and lifted over ditches, and to have the best place everywhere. Nobody ever helps me into carriages, or over mud-puddles, or gives me any best place! And ain't I a woman? Look at me! Look at my arm! I have ploughed and planted, and gathered into barns, and no man could head me! And ain't I a woman? I could work as much and eat as much as a man - when I could get it - and bear the lash as well! And ain't I a woman? I have borne thirteen children, and seen most all sold off to slavery, and when I cried out with my mother's grief, none but Jesus heard me! And ain't I a woman? Then they talk about this thing in the head; what's this they call it? [member of audience whispers, "intellect"] That's it, honey. What's that got to do with women's rights or negroes' rights? If my cup won't hold but a pint, and yours holds a quart, wouldn't you be mean not to let me have my little half measure full?

IN the 2ND paragraph which mostly contains the personal hardships the speaker has in her life as a Negro woman. Specifically, the sentence's where in she talks about no one helping her into carriages, ploughed and gathered in the farm, eat and work as much as a man, and being sold off to slavery best describe the emotional it shows that she wanted to convey

QUESTION POSTED AT 23/09/2019 - 04:22 AM

Fellow citizens, pardon me, and allow me to ask, why am I called upon to speak here today? What have I or those I represent to do with your national independence? Are the great principles of political freedom and of natural justice, embodied in that Declaration of Independence, extended to us? And am I, therefore, called upon to bring our humble offering to the national altar, and to confess the benefits, and express devout gratitude for the blessings resulting from your independence to us? Would to God, both for your sakes and ours, that an affirmative answer could be truthfully returned to these questions. Then would my task be light, and my burden easy and delightful. For who is there so cold that a nation's sympathy could not warm him? Who so obdurate and dead to the claims of gratitude, that would not thankfully acknowledge such priceless benefits? Who so stolid and selfish that would not give his voice to swell the hallelujahs of a nation's jubilee, when the chains of servitude had been torn from his limbs? What effect is achieved by using a series of questions in this speech? A.It conveys a sense of wonderment about the tenets of the Declaration of Independence. B.It gets the audience to start thinking about whether the Declaration of Independence was beneficial for the slaves. C.It makes the audience begin to resent the policies and practices of the US government. D.It creates a parallel structure intended to urge the audience to protest against the Declaration of Independence

B.

It gets the audience to start thinking about whether the Declaration of Independence was beneficial for the slaves,

QUESTION POSTED AT 23/09/2019 - 04:10 AM

Read the sentence below and answer the following question: BUT HE ANSWERED NOT A WORD; like the last column of some ruined temple, he remained standing mute and solitary in the middle of the otherwise deserted room. —Herman Melville, "Bartleby the Scrivener" In the bolded section, how does the addition of "not a word" change the impact of this introductory clause? It emphasizes the lack of response: no answer was given at all. It emphasizes the reference to solitary later in the sentence: "standing mute and solitary." It suggests the narrator needed something: even a non-verbal response would have worked. It suggests the feeling of isolation the narrator feels: the room is deserted.

This comes from the short story “Bartleby, the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street” written by Herman Melville. It is the story of a lawyer who employs a very strange man , Bartleby, as a scrivener. He relates how he would ask Bartleby to do some work but he would just refuse to do it, or stand by the window and say nothing.

Question: In the bolded section, how does the addition of "not a word" change the impact of this introductory clause?

Answer: A.  It emphasizes the lack of response: no answer was given at all.

QUESTION POSTED AT 23/09/2019 - 04:00 AM

The sentence provided may contain a grammar or usage error. Read the sentence, and then identify its error, if there is one, by selecting the appropriate answer choice. If there is no error in the sentence, choose no error. 1. When Marilene works quick at a project, she often makes careless mistakes. a. careless mistakes b. she often makes c. When Marilene d. no error e. quick Read the sentence, and then identify its error by selecting the appropriate answer choice. 2. It can be a real challenge to make a lunch that is both healthy and tasty. a. real challenge b. No error c. that is d. to make e. can be

The mistake in the first sentence provided is the adjective quick. The correct word in that place of the sentence should be quickly, which is an adverb, due to the fact that adverbs modify verbs, and adjectives (quick) modify nouns. In this case, quickly refers to the action of the sentence of working quickly. So, that quickly modifies the verb "work."

In the second sentence there is no mistake. Every single type of word is well placed to convey the meaning.
