you must pay attention to the other person very carefully.

don't allow yourself to become distracted by whatever else may be going on around you, or by forming arguments that you'll make when the other person stops speaking. You can't allow yourself to get bored, and lose focus on what the other person is saying.

A student is writing a speech to thank supporters for helping her get elected student body president. First, I would like to thank those whose hard work and great ideas were ___________ in winning this election. Which word most strongly expresses the helpers' role in her campaign? active: involved in motion or movement robust: having a strength or solidness vigorous: carried out with energy vital: of primary importance

The answer to your question would be that the word that strongly expresses the helpers' role in the student's campaign the most is the following one: vital, of primary importance.

This is a case of collocation. The adjective "vital" is used together with the preposition "in". The fact is that you could not use "active" to talk about someone's great ideas because thoughts simply pop up, you cannot put them on active or passive mode. The same happens with "vigorous" and "robust", you could use them to talk about the students' "hard work" but not to refer to their "great ideas".  "Vital" is the adjective that collocates with both "hard work" and "great ideas".

WILL GIVE THANKS AND BRAINLIEST ANSWER!!!!!! I one well developed paragraph with a topic sentence and supporting details, compare and contrast the experience of reading a poem with listening to one. Explain using how the sound changes or increases your understanding of a poem.

When it comes to poetry, I have found that the reading approach can really help you understand complicated phrases or metaphors. When listening to a poem, the narrator can help paint the picture the author was originally trying to create. However, when you can feel the paper, follow the words, use your own voice to profess each line- you can understand the subliminal meaning in many ways rather than one. One way is never the only way, otherwise, poetry wouldn't exist. Poetry isn't always understood, which is why it can mean many different things to many different people.

Read the quotation from "Some Keep the Sabbath Going to Church." And instead of tolling the Bell, for Church, Our little Sexton – sings. What is the most likely reason for the poet to oppose the phrases “tolling the Bell” and “sings” in these lines? A) The poet is expressing her belief that the second, more natural option is far more desirable than the first option. B) The poet is hinting that religious worship should be considered a gloomy and serious activity. C) The poet is suggesting that those who worship in nature are more formal than those who worship in church. D) The poet is contrasting her attitude about religion with her feelings about the natural world, which remains largely unappreciated.

Answer: A) The poet is expressing her belief that the second, more natural option is far more desirable than the first option.

In this excerpt, the author is comparing two different types of worship. On the one hand, there is the more formal and common version. This includes attending church and following all the rites that the church mandates, such as tolling the bell and reading scripture. On the other hand, there is a more natural way to achieve a connection to God. The author argued that the second way, which includes singing, is more natural and desirable than the first option.

Based on your reading of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's First Inaugural Address, explain two things he did to persuade the American public to support him. Be sure to use quotations from the text to support your answer. Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Inaugural Speech — Text Version This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Nor need we shrink from honestly facing conditions in our country today. This great nation will endure as it has endured, and will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing that we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.—President Franklin Delano Roosevelt Over one hundred thousand people crowded the Capitol to hear Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the thirty-second president of the United States, deliver one of the most famous and important speeches of the twentieth century. Millions more tuned in on radios, listening to the President’s speech and the thunderous applause that washed over the Capitol on a cold and overcast Saturday afternoon. Roosevelt took office in a period of unprecedented unemployment, uncertain financial markets, and uneasiness about America’s place in the world. In just 1,929 words, the new president restored the hope, confidence, and optimism of the nation. A remark made by a young teacher in the crowd was published in a newspaper the next day and summed up the general feeling: “Any man who can talk like that in times like these is worthy of every ounce of support a true American has!”

The sentence "This great nation will endure as it has endured, and will revive and will prosper." persuaded the American public to vote for him. It is because this gave hope to the people. "Our greatest primary task is to put people to work." is an another quote. It gave assurance to individuals with no work especially with 25% unemployment rate during that time.
